GREAT YARMOUTH

FEATURE FILM | UMA PEDRA NO SAPATO

DIRECTOR MARCO MARTINS

2022

Hundreds of migrants descend on the UK village of Great Yarmouth seeking work in the region's turkey processing plants.

A NOTE ABOUT MY ROLE IN THIS FILM

My role was to re-edit the entire movie in 5 weeks, after a cut that the director didn’t like.

We switched scenes, cut whole sequences, inserted brand new ones and thought the structure of film together. After the whole intense process, I was told that I would just be credited as an assistant editor.

This film was nominated for a portuguese academy award for best editing and my name was not part of the nominees, even though the nominees never approved or were aware of the final cut I edited.

I’m here rectifying this situation for the future and as reminder for people to fight for justice in the credits.
